When engaging in product development as we do here at Cody, a prototype or several are often needed before the final product is ready for the market. In some of our projects, we regularly create new prototypes, test, and improve them. This is a cost-effective way to proceed when simulation or calculation is not possible. With our own 3D printer, we constantly create new parts to test components for machines or other items. Rapid prototyping, as it is commonly known, is an important part of product development in many projects.

Depending on the project, a prototype can range in size from millimeters to meters, grams to tons, and can be scaled or full-scale. The purpose of a prototype is to bring concepts to life to learn, test, validate, demonstrate, or fail. A prototype should reduce technical risk at an early stage in the process.
